real wedding: kim & steve 5/3/2013

My first wedding in May was truly stunning, made even more special because of the amazing couple that I got to know in the planning process! A referral from a past couple, Kim and Steve came to me with a clear vision of what they wanted for their celebration and I was excited to join them on the planning journey as their mid-level planner. We found the perfect vendors, created the perfect look with decor, and looped in the perfect personal touches to make the entire day unique to them. They wanted to make the wedding a true expression of themselves and create a fun experience for their guests, and if I do say so myself, we were beyond successful!

The Villa in San Juan Capistrano was the backdrop for this stunning event. The Villa is a unique wedding venue that is romantic, intimate and warm . With only one wedding per day, Kim and Steve were able to enjoy the entire venue to themselves from early morning to the end of the event. Kim got ready with her girls in the bridal room, while Steve played pool upstairs with his guys while they enjoyed lunch. The energy for the day was upbeat right from the start of the day, and after the bride and groom did their first look and saw each other for the first time, emotions were high as they took photos, laughed, and tried to soak in every single moment of their big day.

We used coral, blush, ivory, oranges and pops of navy to create a romantic, fresh look. The amazing flowers were done by Floral Occasions and were just perfect! Peonies, garden roses, anemones and hydrangea….. it was stunning. Inside of the Villa we had an entire table of old family photos for guests to view, as well as a fun slide show running on the TV. Our favors were tiny succulents with the couples initials on an adorable personalized wooden tag….. so cute!

A perfect ceremony was done by Don Johnson, with moments of tears followed by moments of laughter shared by the couple. We then moved into the reception where guests loved the photo booth and the signature cocktails. After dinner, Sweet Lucie’s provided a yummy ice cream cart for all to enjoy and as if the ice cream and cake weren’t enough, we had a great candy table with all of the couples favorite treats available for the guests to enjoy or take home with them for a late night snack.

The dance floor was packed until we lined up to do the sparkler grand exit, where Kim and Steve were whisked away in a vintage Bentley limo! Classic, elegant, timeless….. the car was the perfect exit to the perfect day!

Kim and Steve, thank you so much for taking me along on your wedding planning journey! I had such a great time with you both! In some ways I was sad to see it end, I so enjoyed our planning meetings and phone conversations 🙂 So happy for you both though, and so grateful I was able to help make your day magical!
