new office/re-launch party!

We entered 2015 with a new studio, a new business name, & a new associate coordinator….all great reasons to celebrate! We got together with Lily Stein, our suite-mate, and planned a little office party in March. We were so excited to invite some of our closest vendor friends down for some champagne and for a toast to the 2015 wedding season. The entire Engaged team was there to enjoy a relaxing night of drinks and sweets with some of the best wedding peeps in OC.

Angel at Monico Decor provided us with some beautiful linen and lounge furniture, Jenny B provided us with some beautiful flowers, Simply Sweet Cakery brought in some yummy sweets and Baker Party Rentals provided us with our tables, chairs and lighting. A HUGE thank you to each of them for their support! You made the night!

So many of our wedding friends stopped by, and it was so much fun to have so many of our favorite people in one place! We are so proud of the new studio, and so excited to introduce Jen to everyone as a new leader on our team! Thank you everyone who came by and showed us your support, we are SO VERY THANKFUL. We understand how busy everyone is, so your presence meant the world. Cheers to Engaged, our new Tustin studio, and to a wonderful 2015 season!

Some couples are more than just clients, they are friends. Kristen is one of those clients. I’ve known Kristen for years, and I was so honored to be asked to help with her big day! Kristen worked with me at the Newport Beach Marriott for years, and her sister Summer (who I also worked with at Marriott) has been a close friend of mine for over a decade. Knowing how much fun their family is, I knew this celebration would be big!

The Newport Beach Marriott was the perfect venue for the wedding. A place of such history for all of us :) The ceremony took place in the new Rose Garden Ceremony site, so stunning! Kristen had a custom wood cross made for her alter, that we added flowers to for the finishing touch. Bridesmaids were in a dark grey/silver which was the perfect contract to the bright coral and orange flowers. After the ceremony, a Mariachi band led us to the cocktail reception of course!

We incorporated mixed metals with the coral in her decor, and the warm colors were perfect in the Newport Coast Ballroom. Flower Allie did the flowers, and we rented gold sequin linen (love!!) from Fusion Decor. Long, Family style tables lined the dance floor with circle tables filling the rest of the ballroom. Old family photos filled our cake table, such a sweet personal touch! A late night after party room opened around 11pm, where guests could enjoy desserts and a taco cart- yum!

Kristen, it was so special to be involved in your wedding! You and Ethan are just perfect for each other! Thank you for trusting me and for allowing me to share in the fun! I love you and your fam and wish you all nothing but the best in the years to come!

It’s no secret that The Ritz-Carlton is one of my favorite places… and weddings like this remind me of just how lucky we are to live here in CA, just a short drive from such amazing places! The view, the ocean breeze, the blue water, it is just the perfect backdrop to say “I Do”.

Sandra and Wayne live in AZ and were planning a small, intimate affair for their closest friends and family in CA. Looking for someone to be her eyes and ears here in California, I jumped on board and begin assembling an All-Star team of vendors to flawlessly execute her big day!

Light pinks and ivory were used in the stunning flowers by Elegant By Design. Karla did an amazing job with the arrangements, they were a showstopper! We chose a gold chair and a beautiful textured linen, brining warmth to the Plaza ballroom. A ton of candlelight was used with a crisp white dance floor to complete the look.

Hi friends! Its been a while :) I am finally going through some wedding photos, and loading everything on my new MacBook! I feel so happy as I sit here, looking at all of these gorgeous events that we have been a part of…. I wish I could share them all!

This wedding was one of my favorites that I have ever been a part of! Courtney and Patrick were the sweetest couple! I fell in love with their love story right from the beginning and then once planning began, I also fell in love with their sweet families. It was a perfect day full of love and happiness!

Our ceremony was held at the beautiful Our Lady Queen Of Angels Church in Newport Beach, and our reception was held at Strawberry Farms. We used lace, burlap and soft pink and ivory colors to create a rustic, romantic feeling in the space. The ceiling draping and lighting was the perfect wow factor in the barn. The bridesmaids were in navy, which was a stunning contract to the decor. It all tied together beautifully!

Courtney surprised Patrick with an awesome grooms cake- I loved it! Patrick is a football fan, so the cake was perfect! So many rustic, personal touches in the decor. A vintage window as a guest book, a classic church get away car, and so many fun rental items displayed in the ballroom.

After SO MUCH hard work, the day has finally arrived! Events By Candice is now Engaged Events. It feels really, really good to say that! I decided to change the business name and venture into this expansion over 8 months ago, so it seems so surreal that it is actually launch day- Nov 14, 2014!

What an amazing season 2014 turned out to be. I entered my 5th season in business knowing that I was ready for a change, but afraid to take the step to elevate what I had created. Change is hard for me I’ll admit, and I was happy living in my “little” business bubble. Why change? Why try to grow? Why not just be satisfied booking the weddings I could take and turning away the others? Well my friends, because that just isn’t how I am built. I am always looking for the next opportunity, always pushing myself further, always excited for what could be just around the next corner….. and this was just that. An opportunity to evolve. A chance to take a chance. I had to make a move.

But, I’m leaving out one HUGE factor in all of this, I had just become a mother for the first time. With a baby that was less than a month old, talking to my family and friends about perhaps expanding the business just seemed crazy. How could I do all of this with a new little one? How could I still grow the business and continue to keep the work/life balance that I find so important? I remember asking my husband a few times after Brooke was born if I was crazy to want to re-brand, honestly looking for his opinion. Being the amazing person that he is he’d just smile back and me and say “nope, you aren’t crazy, you are just my determined, driven wife and that’s why I love you”. I’m a lucky lady, I know.

Brooke was born in February and life was forever changed. She is perfect, in every way and I am so blessed. She made me look at life in such a new way and she made me want to continue to work and show her that you can be a mother and a business owner. You can do what you love and still have a family. I know some women want to stay home with their babies and other women want to work full-time outside of the home, I personally just wanted a little bit of both.

That is when I knew for sure it was time to expand. A team was what I wanted to create. A team of women dedicated to this wedding business, just as I am. A team who could work together and handle a larger volume of events. A team that would allow the business to still grow, without me having to balance it all solo. I had to turn down so many weddings over the past few years and it broke my heart! Not only for financial reasons, but because I wanted to work with the amazing clients that were coming my way but I just didn’t have enough time. This change would give me more support, and would push us all forward.

Now with 2 Associate Coordinators and a team of 5 strong assistants, I am proud to say that the team is in place. We can handle more, all while still providing the quality, personal assistance that my clients deserve. We can grow our brand and branch out to service small social events in addition to weddings. We have the man power to now jump into the 2015 season and thrive. I am so excited. It isn’t Events By Candice anymore, it is more than that. Engaged is a team. Engaged is Events By Candice elevated. Engaged is the future of this little business of mine.

Re-branding was the HARDEST thing, but so worth it in the end. How do you choose a new business name? Well it took me months! An updated website, a new office, email addresses, legal documents, social media, marketing, hiring, & training, all take so much time.  But its done, and I have so many people to thank for helping me along the way. Thank you to my husband for working on all the legal documents and for spending hours as my “tech manager”, thank you to my Sister in Law for painting my new office while I was working a wedding, thank you to our lawyer and our tax attorney for hundreds of emails and questions, thank you to my mom for all of her help with Brooke while I spent hours in front of the computer, thank you to Jim Kennedy and his team for our new head shots, thank you to my family and friends for encouraging me to do this, and a HUGE thank you to Jenna, Jen and my team for your continued support and your loyalty to this business.

They say that change forces growth and I couldn’t agree more. All of this change will allow me to grow both personally and professionally. Miss Brooke has changed me, my work has changed me, my relationships change me, and all for the better. I feel so blessed today. Life is so good. I am so thankful.

The perfect summer day, a beautiful couple, breathtaking décor, and a crystal blue ocean backdrop…. these are just SOME of the elements of Tessa & Rich’s wedding day. A wedding coordinator herself, Tessa had high expectations for her planner, and I think I delivered :) I was so honored to be a part of this event….. from beginning to end it was nothing but class!

Tessa chose a stunning blue for her bridesmaids, with the rest of the décor being mostly white. Hints of silver and mirror accents finished off the look. Clean, Crisp, Classic…. an all white ballroom is simply timeless. The Ritz-Carlton was the perfect venue for this celebration, guests enjoyed the ocean view from the Pavilion ballroom all evening long!

Nisie’s Enchanted Garden provided the flowers. I was in LOVE! Tessa’s bouquet was one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen (and I see a lot of bridal bouquets!). The hanging rhinestones were just my style! The all white centerpieces were perfection and the “wow” factors like the guest book table tree with hanging crystals and candles made a huge impact.

Steve with Honored Occasions kept the dance floor packed all night! The night flew by….everyone was dancing and having so much fun! Before we all knew it, it was time to cut the cake! Not just any cake…. a floating cake sitting on a bed of white hydrangea! LOVE!

Tessa and Rich, it was so great working with you both on this beautiful wedding! I am so happy for you both, and honored Tessa that you trusted me with your big day. I wish you all the success with your own coordination business!

Sometimes things just all come together perfectly. I meet a bride and right then I know we are going to make magic together. From my first meeting with Sanam I knew her and I were not only meant to work together, but meant to be friends long after her wedding as well!

Working with the couple for over 18 months, we put together a stunning wedding at the Westin South Coast Plaza. Shades of Purple (my fav!) and silver filled the space with an elegant, regal feeling. Our large, fun bridal party kept a smile on my face all day long! This wedding was by far one of my favorites that I have EVER coordinated!

We started with a traditional Persian sofreh ceremony inside one of the Westins ballrooms. The sofreh was done by Elegant Sofreh Designs and as always, it took my breath away. Bling touches, silver, purple, so perfect for Sanam! The ceremony was completed with personal vows that the couple read to one another….. so sweet! Sanam looked perfect in her STUNNING wedding dress! She was the most beautiful bride!

We then moved into the ballroom where the party really got started. A candy station, personal table names, and a photo booth were all fun touches to the reception. Bella Blooms provided the centerpieces that everyone LOVED. Orchids, Hydrangea, Roses, oh my! :) And the cake? Well let me tell you…… Simply Sweet Cakery out did themselves! Clear Cake stands were in between each layer, filled with orchids and purple led lights. Showstopper!

During dinner we showed an amazing same day edit of the day put together by Daniel at Imagique Brought tears to my eyes! A same day edit is such a cool way to showcase your day to your guests as they continue to enjoy the party! We then kicked off the dance party, and our DJ Mike Soltani kept the dance floor packed all night long!

Sanam and Abel are now expecting their first baby in December and I couldn’t be more excited for them! And it’s a girl! A new friend for my daughter Brooke! haha! I love seeing my couples enter the next phase of their lives….I get to think that I was there when it all got started! :)

Sanam and Abel, thank you for being so fun to work with and for allowing me to be a small part of your celebration. You both are amazing and come from such great families. I had such a great time getting to know everyone along the way. We put together the perfect wedding for you both, one that reflected you as a couple and one that provided your guests with a night they sure will not forget! Congrats to you both and good luck with the baby!
